Prime Minister of Georgia Visits Georgian Military at a US Hospital Treated for Injuries Acquired in Afghanistan Print Version

2018-05-22

Georgian Lieutenant Iveri Buadze is treated at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He was wounded last September in Afghanistan, during the Resolute Support Mission. Initially he was hospitalized in Germany, currently he is undergoing a rehabilitation course in the USA.
I am proud that we have such brave military servicemen. With fellow allies they protect the global peace and security. We owe them a lifetime and will never forget their sacrifice, which, I believe, will not be in vain.
Iveri's words, which he told me today at the Medical Center, gave me tremendous energy and stimulus: "It is my duty, I will sacrifice my life for my motherland without a second thought, if needed. I am happy to have the opportunity to do something for our country. One of the features that makes Georgia stand out throughout the world is our military forces and it is always acknowledged by our European and US colleagues. I believe that our desire to accede to NATO and European structures will soon turn into reality..."

I fully agree - Georgian army is the greatest pride of Georgia. Thank you for your service! We will meet again in Tbilisi...
