"We are continuing a very important project which is among the most crucially important to those living in the country's regions. It is the water supply project. This time, it involves a 17,600,000 GEL water supply project to be implemented in 5 villages of the Gardabani Municipality with support from the World Bank. After the completion of the project, 35,000 households in the villages of Norio, Martkopi, Akhalsopeli, Akhali Samgori, and Vaziani will enjoy water supply 24/7," the Prime Minister stated during today's Government meeting.

According to the Prime Minister, with support from donor organizations and co-financing from the Government., more than 100 water supply projects have been implemented throughout the country in the past few years, in doing which almost 200,000 subscribers now enjoy better water supply services. At this point, 30 additional projects are in full swing, and after their completion, almost 300,000 more subscribers will receive improved water supply services.

"I would like to emphasize that, in the past few years, more than 100 water supply projects have been implemented in different municipalities throughout the country. These projects have been implemented within 6 years, with over 470 million GEL in support from donor organizations and co-financing from the Government. Consequently, almost 200,000 subscribers enjoy improved water supply services today, including 24/7 supply of water for more than 70,000 subscribers. In addition, more than 30 projects of different levels of complexity and scope are in full swing, and their finalization will result in almost 300,00 subscribers enjoying upgraded water supply services. Overall, we may say that, by 2021, 500,000 citizens will no longer encounter any problems with 24/7 supply of water," the Head of Government emphasized.

The Prime Minister singled out several ongoing projects.

"Among the ongoing projects, I would single out, for example, Chiatura where water supply remained a lasting unsolved problem for years. Currently, the full rehabilitation of the Chiatura water supply network is underway to be completed in spring of 2019, resulting in more than 25,000 local residents receiving stable 24-hour water supply.

In addition, I would like point out Ureki with its great tourism potential, which has never had a centralized water supply system and sewerage. A large-scope project is being implemented in Ureki, after the completion of which environmental pollution threats will be mitigated significantly and living conditions will be improved tremendously. The project will be finalized by the end of this year, and both the local residents and visiting vacationers will enjoy a completely renovated water supply system and sewerage built in line with international standards, which is also very important in terms of maintaining environmental protection and averting pollution," Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.
