The Project for Supporting Youth Employment will be implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia under European Commission Program with support from the Save the Children Nederland international organization. The project seeks to promote entrepreneurial skills among socially vulnerable youth, including youth with limited abilities, also to enhance educational opportunities for them and, most importantly, boost their employment potential.
Under the project, four Georgian youth unions will receive half a million GEL in assistance to work employment opportunities for socially vulnerable youth.
Among others, the following will be implemented:
- The assessment of the labor market with focus on youth and, based on European practices, the development of relevant training modules and online platforms.
- Training/retraining for unemployed and socially vulnerable youth to develop necessary skills.
- Activities to exchange youth employment practices will be facilitated between different countries.
This is what young people need to develop the most demanded skills, including employment-related special skills. This study will enable us to identified needs and then help these young persons.
I hope that this project will promote the development of the most needed special skills among young persons living in difficult social and economic conditions.
As you know, our Government allocated between 700,000 and one million GEL for this direction every year, financing up to 60 projects annually, consequently having employed about 350 young persons in different regions and cities of Georgia, having created 60 social enterprises, including woodworking, enameling, and folk craft enterprises in general, also literary cafes, greenhouses, agricultural enterprises, and others.
Over 100 cultural and educational and 50 sports projects have already been implemented.
In addition, a competition for youth ideas will be announced, and its financing-besides what I already mentioned-will be additional 750,000 GEL. I believe that it will prove to be very interesting and noteworthy to young people.
