2018-05-10

On the Prime Minister's initiative, WWII veterans' pensions will double, as Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated during today's Government meeting.

"Yesterday was May 9, Day of Victory, and we had a meeting with World War II veterans, so yesterday proved to be quite emotional and exciting. Those are decorated heroes who would not spare their own lives to save the country, and they certainly deserve special respect, being special themselves, albeit advanced in years, but still very much spirited. In fact, I spent all day with them yesterday, and now, before the Government's meeting, a had a meeting with several members of the Cabinet, mainly the economic team. I would like to announce my initiative to express in a way our gratitude to these persons. I would like to double the pensions for WWII veterans. Unfortunately, there are few of them, and we are obligated to show special attention from the state to each of them. It will be a token of gratitude to them, and I once again congratulate them on the day which is so important to them and the country as a whole," the Prime Minister said during today's Government meeting.
