As Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated after today's meting of the Security Council, the session discussed preparation works for the NATO Summit in Brussels, the security situation in the region, and the process of Georgia's defense reform.
"It serves everyone's interests that Georgia's progress toward NATO be duly underscored. In particular, in what form it should be underscored so that this decision may draw us closer to NATO membership, which is our ultimate goal. There are several versions for that, which we discussed. We discussed the current security situation in the region, relevant threats, Russian occupation, naturally, and other developments in the region. We received information from relevant agencies and discussed steps to be taken by Georgia in terms of security and stability in the country. We also discussed the process of the defense reform. The Minister presented relevant information and we discussed further steps to be taken. In particular, we spoke about the Georgia Defense Readiness Program (GDRP) which will launched in cooperation with the US in the nearest future. Overall, we may say that Security Council's meeting proved to be quite busy," Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.
