Government of Georgia – Appearance 2018

100th Anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Georgia Print Version

2018-03-27

As you know, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the declaration of the Democratic Republic of Georgia, and it is a great holiday to be celebrated by the whole country. We plan a large-scale program to be implemented in Georgia's regions and different countries, with the participation of all state institutions and our embassies. Importantly, the private sector has joined us, and I would like to urge its representatives to engage to the best of their ability in duly celebrating this festivity.

The festive spirit must be felt equally in every region of Georgia. I would like to ask our citizens to emphasize this holiday from this day on by exchanging holiday wishes for May 26 as we do at traditional, universal holidays. May 26 must become a universal feast, joyful and festive, similar to the other holidays we celebrate.

At 5:10 pm, May 26, when the National Council of Georgia unanimously adopted the Act of Independence in 1918, we all, the entire nation, will hold our breath and celebrate the greatest holiday related to the 100th anniversary of the declaration of our country as an independent republic.

About 200 events are planned to be held. The agenda and specifics will be provided to the population in detail.
