The International Olympic Committee will send a special team consisting of experts and advisors to Georgia to study the state of development and future prospects of mountain resorts - this decision was made by the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach at today's meeting with the Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

The group of experts will get acquainted with possibilities in Georgia, including in the direction of youth sports development. It was noted during the meeting that Georgia's goal is to host the Olympic Games in the perspective.

During the face-to-face meeting Giorgi Kvirikashvili amplified Georgia's potential to Thomas Bach and spoke about the visible and tangible consequences that the country has achieved over the last period. The parties discussed the possibility of Georgia hosting Winter Olympic Games.

After the face-to-face meeting, negotiations continued in the extended format. It was noted that the development of mountain ski resorts is a priority for the Government of Georgia and sharing the Swiss experience is a high priority. The importance of widely used models of public and private partnership that attract additional investments and promote development of mountain ski resorts in accordance with international standards was also emphasized.

The President of the International Olympic Committee welcomed the initiatives of the Prime Minister of Georgia that serve the popularization of sports and Olympic values ​​in Georgia.

"We are very impressed with the activities carried out in your country in the last period.

The International Olympic Committee is interested in sport development and in this process we support National Olympic committees, including the Olympic Committee of Georgia," said Thomas Bach.

At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia signed the IOC Guest Book.

The President of the International Olympic Committee awarded Giorgi Kvirikashvili with the Founder's Medal, which the Committee, according to tradition, grants to the heads of states and governments.
