Meeting of the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Vice President of the European Investment Bank (the EIB) Vazil Hudak held at Administration of the Government of Georgia largely focused on Georgian investment environment, structural reforms implemented in the country as well as projects funded by the EIB.

During the meeting particular attention was paid to the successful cooperation with the EIB, intensification of the involvement of the Bank in the private sector operations, as well as financial support provided to increase access of SMEs to allocated funding. According to the Prime Minister, the said initiative is among the top priorities of the Government of Georgia.
Efforts of the EIB in terms of supporting innovation in Georgia and the programme InnovFin, that allows the innovative companies to obtain funding at preferential terms, were emphasized as well.
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to the macroeconomic indicators of the country, fiscal and structural reforms, strategy of Larization, as well as leading positions of Georgia in international ratings.
The head of the Government discussed the four-point reform plan in a detailed manner and indicated that the said plan aims at reforming systems of taxation and tax administration, fostering development of entrepreneurship, increasing transparency and inclusiveness in the governance system, developing transportation and logistics hubs in Georgian infrastructure and modernization of the education system.
The Prime Minister thanked the Vice President of the EIB for providing financial support to the projects having an important effect on development of the country.
Through the preferential funding allocated by the EIB, investment projects worth 1.33 billion Euro have been implemented in the public sector; whereas the Bank has allocated 209 million Euro to fund the private sector programmes.
