Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili held a meeting today with Professor Schinichi Kitaoka, the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The key topics of discussion included bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas and Georgia's ongoing reforms and projects supported by Japan.

The Prime Minister described in detail the Georgian Government's four-point reform agenda seeking to ensure the country's rapid economic development, education system reform, Georgia's infrastructural modernization, and governance reform.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on prospects of further deepening trade and economic ties. Giorgi Kvirikashvili underlined the opportunities offered by Georgia in terms of ease of doing business and invited Japanese companies for greater activity in Georgia.
According to Professor Schinichi Kitaoka, JICA welcomes cooperation with Georgia, which has achieved significant progress in democratic development, citing the establishment of a JICA office in Tbilisi, the first in the Caucasus, as evidence of successful cooperation.

The dialogue also involved agriculture and energy cooperation and Japan's engagement in Georgia's HPP development projects. According to the Prime Minister, Georgia is open to sharing Japan's experience in the areas of renewable energy, healthcare, innovation, and technology.

The parties emphasized the special significance of the year 2017 as it marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister thanked Japan for supporting Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
