The Prime Minister of Georgia will endorse for a presidential award the rescue crew who saved two lives during the recent joint operation of the Interior Ministry's Emergency Management Agency and the Border Police.

As Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated at today's Government meeting, the crew leader Besik Gabiani and rescuers Besik Bakuridze, Shalva Shalibashvili, and Dimitri Kaadze acted heroically when they practically landed their helicopter on river surface in Chkhorotsku, for which they deserve an award.

"We all saw the footage, and it makes us proud that this aptly executed joint operation of the Interior Ministry's Emergency Management Agency and the Border Police has saved two lives. In addition, during yesterday's 5-point storm on the Black Sea, rescuers risked their lives to save 20 people, including two foreign nationals. We all agree that this selflessness must be duly appreciated, and I would like to ask the Interior Ministry to award and encourage them accordingly. It is very important because these people are risking their lives to save others, which is truly commendable. We are proud to have such highly professional rescuers and pilots who accomplished a miracle yesterday," the Prime Minister stated.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili also thanked all firefighters who participated in extinguishing Tbilisi's fire a few days ago.

According to the Prime Minister, 150 firefighters participated in the extinguishing operation at Eliava Market, whose effective actions swiftly prevented the fire from spreading and covering the market's territory, which would otherwise increase the damage from fire. Several of the firefighters suffered injuries.
