Only Georgian citizens, unions of Georgian citizens, the state, and self-governing entities will be eligible to own agricultural lands as assets of exceptional importance, the Prime Minister of Georgia stated at today's Government meeting. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the ruling team addressed the Constitutional Commission with a proposal to adopt a constitutional provision on the alienation of agricultural lands.

"The ruling team held consultations with the participation of representatives of the Government and parliamentary majority. We made a decision to propose an initiative to the Constitutional Commission to adopt a constitutional provision prohibiting agricultural lands from being alienated to foreign nationals. This provision reflects a demand upheld by the majority of Georgia's citizens. I believe it is a decision that the ruling team absolutely must make," the Prime Minister said.
