Georgian Airways is growing its international air route by adding a new Tbilisi-London-Tbilisi direct flight. The flights will be operated on a regular basis. The Prime Minister of Georgia attended presentation of the new route. Giorgi Kvirikashvili expressed his hopes that direct flights will foster ever-deepening relations between Georgia and Great Britain by strengthening people-to-people contacts as well as development of economy and tourism.

According to the Prime Minister, flights are performed to 21 destinations across 13 European countries. During the first 5 months of 2017, the amount of passengers in Georgian airports has increased by 47%.

"The road infrastructure, network of hotels and numerous travel destinations are also being developed across Georgia. I would like to congratulate you and thank Georgian Airways for making this decision. I hope that the flights will continue after the tourist season is over. I am sure that this company will once again play its important part in developing tourism in Georgia. Today, thanks to visa liberalization, citizens of Georgia are provided with a unique opportunity to travel to EU countries without tiresome procedures," - the Prime Minister noted.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili once again expressed his condolences to the British people and the families of the victims of London terrorist attack.

"I would like to express my condolences to the British people, Government and the families of the victims of London terrorist attack. Unfortunately, terrorism knows no borders. I sincerely hope that civilized world will consolidate to overcome the terrible disease that lately has been affecting the whole world," - the Prime Minister indicated.

Ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia, H.E. Justin McKenzie Smith also attended the event. The ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for the support demonstrated by Georgia in the aftermath of London terrorist attack.
