The Prime Minister of Georgia commented on the case of Azeri journalist Afgan Mukhtarli. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the investigation is still in progress, but it is already known for a fact that Georgia's state agencies had no part in the incident involving the Azeri journalist.

"The Interior Ministry is probing into this very unfortunate incident. It is imperative for our country to keep up and develop the democratic standards we have worked so hard to reach. We must wait for the finalization of the investigation. We offered Georgian citizenship and protection to Afgan Mukhtarli's wife and children. The individual himself is currently detained. At the moment it's hard to say anything. I can only say with all certainty that Georgia's state institutions had no part whatsoever in this incident," Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.
