The Prime Minister of Georgia is thankful to the Health Ministry for implementing the far-reaching hepatitis C program-at today's Government meeting, Giorgi Kvirikashvili discussed the newly opened modern center for hepatitis C management in Zugdidi.
According to the Prime Minister, this project is very important as research data show a high rate of hepatitis C in the Samegrelo Region.

"It will be a unique center in that it will offer a whole set of services, including screening, diagnostics, medical consultation, and medication. It is a very successful program implemented with support from the US Government. The center will also offer treatment under hepatitis C program to our compatriots, holders of neutral passports, from the occupied territory," the Prime Minister added.

So far, 35,000 people have been treated under the hepatitis C program, of which 25,000 have completed their therapy, with the recovery rate reaching 98%.
"This means 25,000 lives saved, people who were doomed to die without this program. The program continues and similar centers will open in other regions as well," the Prime Minister pointed out.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili also discussed the ongoing work on the masterplan for Maltakva coastline development.
