A welcoming ceremony was officiated today in Rome by Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni to honor the state visit of Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

The anthems of the two countries were performed at the Palazzo Chigi, with a guard of honor formed to present ceremonial compliments as the Prime Ministers introduced each other to their delegations. A new stage in economic and cultural cooperation and intense dynamics in Georgia-Italy relations, this is how Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni described his Georgian counterpart's state visit to Rome.

The Head of Italian Government thanked the Prime Minister of Georgia for his visit designed, according to Gentiloni, to promote further active bilateral cooperation.

The Prime Ministers discussed ongoing issues pertaining to Georgia-Italy relations and pointed out the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries.

The parties also spoke of trade, economic, and investment potential, Georgia's geostrategic location, and prospect of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, energy, and tourism. The Importance of the memoranda of understanding signed during the Georgian Prime Minister's visit was emphasized by the parties who hope that the Italy-Georgia Business Forum will stimulate new Italian investments in Georgia.

The Prime Ministers also pointed out the dynamic cultural, education and science, defense and security cooperation between Georgia and Italy.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Paolo Gentiloni stressed the issue of Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The Head of Italian Government welcomed the finalization of visa waiver for Georgia.

The parties also discussed regional challenges and the state of affairs in Georgia's occupied territories. Paolo Gentiloni reaffirmed the Italian Government's firm support for Georgia's territorial integrity.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked the Italian Prime Minister for his hospitality, adding that Georgia is Italy's reliable friend and loyal partner.
