Prime Minister’s Meeting with President of International Ski Federation Print Version

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met today with President of International Ski Federation (FIS) Gian-Franco Kasper in St. Moritz.

The Georgian Government's steps toward developing Georgia's mountain resorts and promoting winter sports were the main topics of the meeting. Giorgi Kvirikashvili informed the FIS President that 150 m euro's worth of investments were made in the recent period to develop Georgia's mountain resorts, with the goal of turning Georgia into an important regional mountain resorts and winter sports destination.
The Prime Minister also spoke of the Georgian Government's plan on the development of mountain resorts, which, among others, involves increased access to winter activities for children, also pointing out the planned restoration of winter breaks in schools to this end.

According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Georgia aspires to host FSI championships in the nearest future. The Prime Minister invited the FSI President to attend the Euro-Asian Mountain Resorts Conference in April.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Ketevan Bochorishvili and the heads of the Mountain Resorts Development Company and the Georgian Ski Federation.
Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili also had a meeting with President Thomas Bach of the International Olympic Committee. At the meeting, the Prime Minister described Georgia's fast-growing mountain resorts.
The Head of Georgian Government also attended the finals of the Alpine World Ski Championships in St. Moritz, and spoke with the five Georgian participants of the tournament to discuss with them the development of Georgia's mountain resorts.
