Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili Meets Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda for the International Criminal Court.

The main topic of the meeting was the ongoing investigation into the August 2008 war. The parties discussed the current phase of the investigation and cooperation with the Georgian side.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili reassured the ICC Chief Prosecutor of full and active support from the Government of Georgia in collecting all materials necessary for the investigation. According to the Prime Minister, it is imperative to make sure that crimes against humanity, and other offenses-ethnic cleansing against Georgians in this case, as well as the killings of Georgian prisoners of war-do not go unpunished.

According to the Prime Minister, the families of the victims have set their hope on this investigation, and the Chief Prosecutor can count on the Georgian side's full cooperation in collecting important materials for the investigation.

Fatou Bensouda thanked the Georgian side for its exceptional openness and active cooperation throughout the investigation. She reiterated that, despite the absence of a response from Russia regarding cooperation with the court, the investigation will continue as usual.
