World Bank will cooperate with the Government of Georgia on education reform, one of the most far-reaching components of the Government's four-point reform agenda, which was the main topic of today's meeting between Georgia's Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Christian Aedo, the World Bank's Global Education Practice Manager.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that education is one of the top priorities of the Georgian Government.
During the meeting, Giorgi Kvirikashvili described in detail the comprehensive reform of the education system seeking to forge a professional and higher education system focused on the labor market and the actual demand in Georgia. The Georgian side expressed readiness to take in the World Bank's experience in this direction.
The Prime Minister also stressed education opportunities for adults, which will enable people of all ages to master vocations of their choice and land employment or start their own businesses.

During the meeting, special emphasis was put on the much-needed incorporation of modern technology into the system of education.

The meeting was attended by the World Bank's representatives and Georgian Minister of Education and Science Alexandre Jejelava.
