Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili expressed his condolences over the death of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Iran's ex-President.
The Head of Georgian Government offered his sympathies to the Ambassador of Iran, expressing them in a note in the condolence book at the embassy.

"Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi was Georgia's firm supporter in the first years after regaining independence. Invaluable is his contribution to the development of friendly relations between independent Georgia and the Islamic Republic of Iran. I would like to reiterate my deepest sorrow over the passing of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani," the Georgian Prime Minister's condolence letter reads.
