The Cabinet session was held today at the Administration of the Government under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili. The Cabinet discussed 35 issues placed on the agenda.

In line with the Government's Ordinance, amendments to the pension regulations become effective. Growth of pensions encompasses several directions. "Starting from July 1 persons with disabilities will obtain higher pensions. Respective benefits will affect category with clear form of disability and children with disabilities, since there is no categorization of persons with disabilities in minors below 18 years. Their pension, similar to that of retired persons, will become 180 GEL. The changes will affect around 35 000 persons. The growth of pensions will also affect retired persons - starting from July their pension will increase by 20 GEL and will become 180 GEL. Overall, to assess the budget allocated for the pension for retired persons throughout last 4 years, it becomes clear that in 2012 the budget was 1.045 billion GEL, while this year it is 1.570 billion GEL, which means that the pension funds have increased by nearly half a billion GEL. Change in the amount of pensioners is also interesting. In 2012, 680 000 retired persons were registered, whereas currently there are 713 000 of them", - Minister of Healthcare David Sergeenko noted. He also indicated that starting from September 2016 the pension for retired persons will increase by 20% and will become 216 GEL.

Long-term culture development document "Culture Strategy 2025" was created by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection with support of society and Government's Interagency Commission. Said document was approved by the Government's Decree. This document is the first one in Georgian history that defines state vision and goals to solve existing problems.

Culture Strategy 2025 aims at supporting creativity and relevant industries, including creative startups thus ensuring economic and social wellbeing of the country. Development process was initiated since 2014, by elaborating the guidelines, which defined the main principles of the strategy: openness, transparency and inclusiveness. The process involved wide public. Strategy development process was held in close cooperation with the European Union and was assessed positively by the European Union and the Council of Europe. It should be noted that in addition to the strategy document, a 3-year action plan specifying the activities planned by the state will be approved.
The government approved the draft resolution "On allocation of funds to the local self-government from the fund of the development of mountainous areas." The project provides for allocation of 9 999 792 GEL to the local self-government bodies from the Development Fund of highland settlements to ensure implementation of projects with relevant project documentation or the work begun in previous years.
