BORJOMI-BAKURIANI NARROW-TRACK RAILWAY CARRIAGES GOT FUNDAMENTALLY REFURBISHED Print Version

Borjomi-Bakuriani residents, skiers and tourists will from now on be serviced with the newly commissioned, fully refurbished narrow-track railway train. PV-900 passenger carriages, which have not been refurbished since 80's, acquired their original image great merits to the Georgian Railway JSC. Borjomi-Bakuriani train will perform 2 trips a day. Each carriage has 32 seats and respectively fully refurbished train will safely transport 128 people per trip.
Refurbished carriages have been visited by H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia. In his opinion, this train is significant both for holiday-makers and local population.
"We are celebrating a big event in Bakuriani today. This cuckoo train, traditionally associated with a popular recreation area, has been fully refurbished and is now accessible to holiday-makers. It is equally important for local residents of villages from Borjomi all the way to Bakuriani. We have also commissioned a new ski track in Mitarbi, along with a new cable road, which was decommissioned 30 years ago. In essence, we have thus blown a new life into Mitarbi resort. New complex of Kokhta-Mitarbi will be very important segment of Borjomi-Bakuriani complex and it will be developed in line with the Master Plan, preventing its chaotic extension" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
According to him, this area is developing with Private-Public Partnership and benefits of the investments.
Head of the Government of Georgia believes that it is significant for the residents of Borjomi-Bakuriani region, though it will also employ a great number of people from a greater geographic scope of coverage, judging by the importance of the potential already demonstrated by the ski resort.
"We have great plans. Biathlon track will be constructed next year. We are starting the rehabilitation of the springboard. Plenty of roller coasters will be installed to leave nobody jobless throughout 12 months of the year" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
