COMMENT OF THE ACTING PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA Print Version

2016-11-25

"Victor Dolidze's statement is very far from the truth, which to my belief was made on the emotional grounds" noted Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Acting Prime Minister of Georgia while responding to a question posed by journalists on the topic today. In his opinion decisions made by the General Prosecution of the country are not politicized.

"This is not an accurate statement. He is not requested to protect the position of the General Prosecution and no matter how emotional Victor Dolidze may feel towards the issue, he should at least resist the urge of commenting the opposite, especially when such comment has nothing to do with the reality. We trust the institutions, which operate in the country today and decisions made by them are by no means politicized today and have never been in the past 4 years. Nobody can assert that resolutions were made on political grounds within the referred period. Hence, I believe that this statement was very far from the truth and Victor ended up voicing an emotional comment" added the Acting Prime Minister.

Mr. Kvirikashvili also referred to the meeting held with the Patriots of Georgia (political party) and stressed the importance of economic reforms.
"We presented a Four Year Action Plan. Rapid economic development is the solution to every problem in our country. Any issue, which may be named today will be addressed through the economic problem-solving. Hence, our Four Point Plan is aimed at the significant economic advancement of our country. Of course, national security is equally important. We will do our best to the extent possible within the country with two individual regions under foreign occupation for the ultimate mitigation of current risks" stated the Acting Prime Minister.
In his opinion, freedom of media is ensured and expressed hopes that solution to Rustavi 2 TV Broadcasting will be based on the principles of justice.

"I have said it at numerous occasions and let me reiterate that freedom and independence of media is the cornerstone for policies pursued by our Government. Today media is free as it has never been before. Judiciary is also independent of any and all pressure. We support and ensue the decisions to be taken by the principles of justice. This issue has two dimensions: property rights and freedom of media. I strive to our authority manifest itself in an integral manner in both directions. I am convinced it will!" concluded the Acting Prime Minister.
