Prime Minister Supports Defense Minister in Defense Ministry Reform Print Version

We still have much to change in our military administration system, and we have yet to align our defense system with Western standards, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated after the Defense Minister's 100-day performance report and presentation of future plans.

The Head of Government commended Levan Izoria's report and future plans as very interesting and assured him of support at the highest level in their implementation.

"We are facing serious security challenges, and our system of military defense and security must be ready to rise to these challenges," the Prime Minister said, emphasizing plans to overhaul the defense system in order to align it with NATO standards.

The Head of Government also pointed out the importance of the Georgia-US Cooperation Memorandum on Deeper Defense and Security Cooperation, the implementation of which is about to begin.

"It is vitally important to consolidate the Government as a whole in this direction. I want everyone to know that this is a very important reform and that the Minister enjoys support at the highest level," Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.

The Head of Government, together with the Cabinet members, attended the presentation of the 100-day performance report and the strategic defense overview. Levan Izoria summarized the implemented work and described planned Defense Ministry reforms.
