Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili attended the celebratory reception in honor of the German Reunification Day. The head of the Government of Georgia congratulated people of Germany on the event and elaborated on German-Georgian friendship and partnership. According to him, 2017 will mark the year of German-Georgian friendship.
"Germany continues to be one of our most valued, strongest and most consistent partners within the EU. We have a lot to thank you for, and much to celebrate this evening. What is particularly important about tonight's celebration is that it also means a lot to Georgia. Last year, we celebrated 25 years since the reunification of Germany. Georgia this year celebrates 25 years since its own independence - we are halfway there, and Germany is a great role model for us to keep pushing on, - Prime Minister indicated.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili outlined prospects of deepening cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany in many areas. According to him, the country is enhancing cooperation on security ahead of the EU's green light for visa liberalisation for Georgia.
"During the celebration of Octoberfest in Tbilisi a few weeks ago, affection of German culture was noticeable for many of us. I firmly believe that this event of introductory character will serve as a strong catalyst for many Georgians and particularly young people to travel to Germany and get more closely acquainted with rich German culture," - Prime Minister noted.
Members of the Government and Parliament of Georgia alongside with the representatives of diplomatic corps and various sectors of society attended the event organized by the German Embassy.
