Pope of the Roman Catholic Church Francis I visited Svetitskhoveli Cathedral today. Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili was also present at Cathedral.

Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II and Pope Francis addressed people gathered at the church. According to His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, visit of Pope of the Roman Catholic Church to Svetitskhoveli carries particular significance, since relics of exceptional importance are kept at this ancient church, whereas Mtskheta is a spiritual center of the country.
Pope Francis greeted the Prime Minister and the gathering and thanked the people of Georgia for hospitality.

In his address Pope Francis elaborated on the history of Georgia and the values of Christianity.
