Designing of the biathlon track of the Olympic standards will start in cooperation with the French Company ABEST, - as the Prime Minister noted during today's Government meeting, 796 500 GEL will be allocated for the purpose of implementation of this program.

According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the need assessment demonstrated that the said infrastructure will sufficiently increase the year-round visibility of Bakuriani resort, by boosting the demand to train for biathlon throughout the whole year.

"Furthermore, it is planned to develop sports infrastructure that will increase the number of guests of this resort throughout the whole year. This will be beneficial for the neighboring villages as well. We shall view Borjomi and Bakuriani as parts of the same complex. Hence, it is a very serious step. We are gradually moving in the direction of creating the whole complex of Olympic infrastructure. This sets forth a prerequisite for a very realistic plan of holding Olympic Games in Georgia within the decade. We have discussed respective issue many times, but we were not ready for this," - Prime Minister noted and indicated that construction of winter resorts and infrastructure of Olympic standards is one of the top priorities for the Government.

According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, after the construction of biathlon track, new hall for hockey and number of residential and entertainment areas, Borjom-Bakuriani complex will become a resort of international importance.
