Prime Minister of Georgia welcomes Georgia’s improved rankings in terms of Global Competitiveness Index Print Version

Pursuant to the Global Competitiveness Report 2016-2017 conducted by the World Economic Forum, Georgia's ranking has witnessed improvement by 7 notches as it stood at the 59th position out of total 138 countries, - Prime Minister welcomed the progress in terms of index that reflects the country's competitiveness in the most complex way.

As Giorgi Kvirikashvili indicated at today's Government meeting, Georgia stood at the 66th position in 2015-2016, whereas since 2011-2012, it moved up 29 spots from 88th rank.

Pursuant to the report, Georgia is ahead of many countries, including Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Ukraine, Moldova and other states.

"According to the report, Georgia's positions improved in areas such as economic, social and business components, macroeconomic environment, healthcare and primary education, goods market efficiency, technological readiness level, diversification of business, and innovation. Economic competitiveness of the country is improved in many fundamental areas and this is crucial in terms of international investment image of the country and for Georgian entrepreneurs," - Prime Minister of Georgia noted and indicated that the Government of Georgia continues to work in this area.
