700 students will continue their studies at a public school of modern standards. Today the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, alongside with the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Aleksandre Jejelava, the US Ambassador to Georgia Ian C. Kelly and Deputy CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nancy Lee opened the 5th public school.

The school was renovated within the frames of the second compact provided by the MCC to Georgia.
The head of the Government congratulated school students and teachers on opening the renovated school building and thanked the United States as well as the Millennium Challenge Corporation for exceptional assistance provided in the field of education.

"Education is the top priority for the Government of Georgia. Education reform as well as steps envisioned in this direction represent the most important parts of our four-point reform plan. Therefore, I once again welcome the US assistance provided in this particular area," - Prime Minister noted.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili also indicated that during the visit of the US Secretary of State John Kerry to Georgia it was decided to expand the frames and scales of education cooperation programme - Fulbright Scholarship, implying that twice as many students will be able to obtain education in the USA.

Prime Minister hoped that students of 5th public school will participate in this programme.

"Many Georgian students became the beneficiaries of these programmes. I also had a pleasure to study at one of the best universities in the USA. This experience turned out to be completely life-changing and I would like to thank our friendly country once again for this. Future generation is the greatest wealth of Georgia and hence, opening such a beautiful school here - where peace has a special price - is of particular importance," - Prime Minister noted.

In 2016, within the frames of the first stage of School Infrastructure Development Project complete rehabilitation of 12 schools took place. As a result, study environment of over 3500 pupils was improved.

Rehabilitation of around 100 schools is planned within the frames of the Millennium Challenge Compact.
