Bone marrow transplant to take place for the first time in Georgia, - Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili alongside with Minister of Healthcare David Sergeenko opened high tech outpatient hospital and bone marrow transplant center that will be functioning under the umbrella of high technology medical center.

High tech outpatient hospital encompasses oncohematology and bone marrow transplantation center, alongside with blood bank, and new high-tech diagnostic and radiation therapy departments. Pediatric department with intensive care and oncohematology units is also operative in the hospital.
The head of the Government alongside with the manager of the hospital, Professor Gocha Ingorokva, examined the hospital and was informed about the modern equipment that can be found in the Center.

"We examined truly groundbreaking, modern technologies that the high-tech medical center is equipped with. The stable funding provided within the frames of Universal Healthcare Program enabled purchase of such equipment. Joint retraining programs with Israel for doctors are ongoing. Surgeries that have never before performed in Georgia are undertaken jointly. As an illustration, we can refer to the bone marrow transplant that will be carried out in Georgia for the first time. It is a welcoming fact that all essential conditions are created at the hospital. Previously we were often compelled to send patients abroad. However, currently we will not have to refer patients to other hospitals and Georgian medical staff will be able to perform relevant surgeries at the high-tech medical technology center - and this a truly welcoming fact," - Prime Minister noted.
The head of the Government hoped that this trend would continue in Georgian medicine and the number of diseases treatable in Georgia will gradually increase.

The Prime Minister of Georgia and the Minister of Healthcare met with the professors and medical staff of the hospital and congratulated them on opening of the new center.

"I am glad to see efforts that have been placed in the area of increasing qualification of the medical personnel. These endeavours will certainly bear some serious fruit. The Universal Healthcare Program was a major step and notwithstanding parting opinions surrounding this issue, gradual steps undertaken by David Sergeenko brought some tangible results. Many aspects of the project will be needing some improvements and we will continue amelioration of this program. I am glad to see such a modern medical technology center in Georgia," - Prime Minister stated during his meeting with the doctors.
110 additional people were employed at the University Hospital under the High-tech Medical Technology Center as a result of opening new units.
