Implementation of large-scale projects to be launched in Ganmukhuri Print Version

"Cartu" Foundation will co-finance construction of a botanical garden on the territory of around 100 ha in Ganmukhuri, whereas Co-investment Fund will build 5-star highest class hotel with an overall cost of 60 million USD -projects of revolutionary scale were presented in Ganmukhuri today. Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili alongside with other guests attended the event.

In his speech the Prime Minister evaluated the significance of the projects implemented through the joint efforts of the "Cartu" Foundation and Co-investment Fund of Georgia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili hoped that both projects would significantly increase the inflow of tourists and create an additional income for the local population.

"Cartu" Foundation will fund construction of a botanical garden on the area of around 100 ha, 20 million USD will be invested in this project. This is a charity project that fosters development of tourism infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Co-Investment Fund will build 5-star highest class hotel with an overall cost of 60 million USD. Notably, Ganmukhuri Botanical Garden will be not only a recreational zone, but will serve a significant purpose of preserving unique Kolkhetian varietis and species. I believe that similar projects in Anaklia-Ganmukhuri touristic area will create new attraction centers thus motivating potential investors to invest even more. Both of these projects will significantly increase inflow of tourists. Local residents will certainly be employed in the construction of both hotel and the botanical garden," - Prime Minister noted.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili outlined the initiative of the former Prime Minister and the founder of "Cartu" Foundation to fund construction of resembling 5-star hotel and botanical garden across the dividing line as well. Prime Minister considers that respective offer of Bidzina Ivanishvii is truly unparalleled and fully complies with the peaceful and reconciliation approach adopted by the state.

"Neither time, nor venue for announcing the launch of these two significant projects is random. Tomorrow, September 27 marks the day of fall of Sokhumi - it is a truly tragic date in the history of Georgia. This war was equally tragic for both Georgians and Abkhazians. We failed to avoid this tragedy. However, time has come and we have to contemplate about our future and consider restoration of the destroyed bridges. Peace and friendship does not have an alternative in our relations. We have heard unique offer of Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili that fully complies with peaceful and reconciliation policy adopted of our state. This offer is a tangible and specific step towards restoration of Georgian-Abkhazian friendship. Mr. Ivanishvili expressed his readiness to fund construction of resembling 5-star hotel and botanical garden across the dividing line as well. In case of implementation of this project, obtained income will used to ensure wellbeing of the local residents and develop the infrastructure. This is a truly unique offer and fully complies with the peaceful and reconciliation approach adopted by the state," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted.

According to him, this step clearly demonstrates readiness of the Georgian people to share their success to the population across the dividing line and make Abkhazians the participants and partners of development of Georgia.

"I would like to voice this message directed at our Abkhazian brothers from this very spot in Ganmukhuri - our success and wealth is yours as well and we believe that time will come and we will manage to restore confidence. I am convinced that growth of this region will serve the purpose of development of this area as well as promotion of Georgia," - Prime Minister noted.

The concept of garden that will be cultivated on the territory of around 100 ha is aimed at preservation and further popularization of unique Kolkhetian species and varieties. Various types of laboratories will be arranged on the territory of the botanical garden to enable scientists to undertake researches and cooperate with international botanical associations. Greenhouses and seedling farms will be arranged and expositions typical for micro-environments of various climates will be held. School for youth will also be operating at the botanical garden enabling them to study and examine endemic and rare species of plants. The project also envisages creation of relevant infrastructure. The investment costs of the project is around of 20 million GEL.

The five-star hotel will be constructed at Ganmukhuri coastline and cover 35 000 sq. meters. The hotel will include 190 suites of high class. Pursuant to the project, menus of dining areas - restaurants and cafes will be replete with culinary masterpieces typical to the said region - this will foster further promotion of rich Georgian cuisine. In 2 years the number of people employed on the construction works will be over 2000. 350 individuals will be employed at the hotel.
