Qualitative change in the system of corrections and probation in terms of human rights protection and the approximation of Georgian legislation with the European standards, - Prime Minister of Georgia assessed the amendments introduced to the Imprisonment Code and the relevant laws drafted by the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance.

The head of the Government thanked Kakha Kakhishvili for the work provided in this area.
According to the amendments, for the first time in Georgia the inmates will be given an opportunity of obtaining a higher education; new type of sentence is introduced for the adult inmates - house arrest; terms of disciplinary imprisonment are decreasing, the mechanism of review of the form of sanction of an inmate who is sentenced to a life imprisonment are being amended, etc

"I consider these changes to be important and groundbreaking," - the Prime Minister noted and wished success to the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance in the process of implementation of these amendments.
