Ilia was murdered this day, but his legacy continued to live and today limitlessness of Georgia has been demonstrated once again, - Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili addressed community gathered to commemorate anniversary of the murder of Ilia Chavchavadze in Saguramo.

According to the Prime Minister, today marks the day when Saint Ilia Martali (Truthful) was born, when his eternal life started and is crucial in the history of our nation.

"Georgia has learned one more bitter lesson and our history is nothing more than learning and failing to learn on our mistakes. Today the importance of the lesson is particularly large - as Vazha-Pshavela once noted - "If the murderers of Ilia could, they would have killed Georgia itself", but they failed to do so. They failed to kill Ilia and Georgia, since Ilia is as eternal as the Georgian nation. This murder awakened Georgian nation, redefined its development vector and reinforced morals of the Georgian people. Ilia sacrificed his life to achieve this goal. Whole of his life, work, writer's career and pubic activities served this particular purpose," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted.

According to the Prime Minister, Ilia was a symbol of the harmony between Georgia and Europe - each of his words carries the idea of unity of West with Georgia.

"Sense of independence has not been brought to Georgians as vividly as Ilia Chavchavadze has and his words are particularly current today, when Georgia is facing novel challenges. Georgia faces new threats and challenges and Ilia has given us the best medicine to cope with these obstacles. As Ilia has once stated "We have to encourage each other by joining our efforts. Let us support each other and make love our middleman,"... No one has exceeded the greatness of these words. These words conveys vector of development of Georgia, greatness of the country and the formula of rescuing the Georgian gene. I cannot add anything to these words - the only thing I would like to say is that I pray to god to ensure that we deserve these words; I pray to god to ensure that each of our steps and each of our actions are dictated by our hearts. I congratulate you on the birthday of Saint Ilia Martali," - Prime Minister addressed the society
Giorgi Kvirikashvili also examined the exhibition of handmade objects dedicated to the anniversary of murder of Ilia Chavchavadze.
