Meeting with the Minister of Defence of the French Republic Print Version

Prime Minister of Georgia held a meeting with the Minister of Defence of the French Republic Jean-Yves Le Drian.

The meeting commenced with recalling the tragic events of September 11. The parties discussed importance of combating terrorism, international security issues as well as international security issues and the contribution of Georgian military contingent in the European Union peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.

The parties of the meeting discussed main aspects of bilateral partnership. The conversation touched upon the cooperation perspectives in the defence area and the importance of the exchange programs in the area of military education.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked Minister of Defence of France for his visit to Georgia and expressed hope that he will support further development of the bilateral relations etween the countries.

"I am glad that your first visit to Georgia has taken place during the celebration of the 10-year anniversary of establishing the Mountain Training School of Sachkhere. French side has greatly contributed to setting up of this institution. We consider your visit as a clear indication of the solid support of France to Georgia as well as the message of the existing partnership between the countries," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted at the meeting.

Minister of Defence of Georgia Levan Izoria and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Janelidze attended the meeting held at the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
