Extended format negotiations between the members of the Government of Azerbaijan and Georgia Print Version

After the face-to-face meeting between the Prime Ministers of Georgia and Azerbaijan, negotiations concerning main aspects of strategic partnership between the states continued in an extended format. Members of the Government of the two countries discussed prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the frames of the East-West transit corridor; underlined the economic and geopolitical importance of the "Silk Road". Particular attention was paid to the role of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project. Significance of Georgia-Azerbaijan cooperation in the process of implementation of global energy projects, including Southern Gas Corridor was outlined.

As it was noted by the participants of the meeting, successful finalization of the project is important in terms of energy security of Europe. Prospects of further deepening of trade and economic relations and noted that next meeting of the Inter-Agency Council that will be scheduled in the near future will foster economic cooperation.

Cooperation in the tourism area was commended and it was noted that the positive dynamics observable in this area is demonstrated by the growing number of Azerbaijani tourists visiting Georgia.

From the Georgian side the meeting was attended by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gigi Gigiadze, whereas Government of Azerbaijan was represented by Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalaf Khalafov.
