Construction process of airport in Ambrolauri is planned to be finalized by the end of this year, - the Government will conduct simplified purchase to ensure swift implementation of construction, installation and operationalization works.
According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, construction of airport in Ambrolauri will be particularly important to ensure that the population stays in region and tourism develops there.
"This will give a significant impetus to development of tourism in Racha region. We plan on finalizing the construction of airport by the end of the year; the runways will become operational by this time and the terminal will also be able to accommodate tourists," - Prime Minister indicated.
To ensure provision of service to the increased inflow of tourists, additional infrastructure is planned to be constructed at Kutaisi International Airport, which will introduce 7 additional destinations to Europe starting from September 23.
Prime Minister hopes that this year Georgia will obtain final decision concerning introduction of the visa free regime with the EU and these two events will enable cheap flights from Kutaisi in the 11 European destinations .
