Prime Minster of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili alongside with the members of the Government laid wreath at the memorial of heroes fallen during the August war at Mukhatgverdi Military Cemetery and paid tribute to their memory.

"Today marks 8 years since the most tragic event in the recent history of Georgia took place. Notwithstanding the fact that the war lasted several days, it was a serious shock for our country. I bow my head before the memory of soldiers who fell in the violent, unequal fight for the homeland. After this war and as a result of Russian occupation, our citizens became IDPs in our own country. Due to this war, we became even more distant from Abhkazians and South Ossetians".

According to the Prime Minister, there is no alternative to the peaceful unification of the country and Georgia has to continue coherent policy in this direction.

"Of course, reconciliation process that is being gradually implemented by the state carries particular importance. We have to make our country attractive and interesting for everyone. We have to unite our country with the involvement of international community. Peace has no alternative. State will spare no effort to ensure that bloodshed is avoided in the future. Once again, I bow my head before the memory of those, including soldiers and civilians, who fell in this unequal fight caused by Russian occupation," - Prime Minister noted.
