Within the frames of the Chekin Georgia project, the first festival of Georgian electric music "GEM Fest" will take place in Anaklia on August. More than 40 thousand people will attend the festival. Chekin Georgia was financed almost completely by Cartu Fund that allocated 20 million GEL for this purpose.

Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili inspected the preparatory works of the festival and attended the presentation of the project.

Head of the Government expressed hope that GEM Fest will entail improvement of image of our county on the international arena, inflow of investments, infrastructural and economic development and employment of local population and their income growth.

"Serious work has been undertaken. This year we expect around 40 000 guests. Infrastructure is virtually ready and this place will gradually develop to attract increasing number of guests. I consider that this festival will become a significant locomotive of regional development. It is planned to increase the duration of the festival - this will turn this place into a spot where young people will be able to enjoy their spare time. I urge everyone to come and see this venue. High-quality equipment has been installed. I would like to extend my gratitude to Giorgi Sigua and his team that has been working here for 24 hours per day during these last months, as well as to Georgian and foreign volunteers who arrived here. Numerous people are engaged in preparatory works of the festival. The event carries particular importance for the local population. Samegrelo is completely overbooked. It is a welcoming fact that the local population will have larger income," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted in his conversation with journalists.

According to him, due to the Gem Fest, several hotels in Anaklia and Ganmukhuri have been reequipped and one additional hotel was constructed. Building of several additional hotels is also planned. Prime Minister encouraged everyone to attend the festival.

"Construction of several hotels, including family-type and high-class ones is planned. I encourage everyone to come here - festival opens on 9th. Guests will be welcomed by interesting, high-class DJs. It is symbolic that we will have a very famous DJ from Abkhazia," - Prime Minister noted.
