Prime Minister of Georgia attended the solemn liturgy marking the 1000 years since the construction of masterpiece of Georgian architecture Nikortsminda. The celebratory liturgy was served by His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch ilia II. Patriarch congratulated Georgian people on 1000 years of existence of the holy Cathedral.
"We are glad that the Prime Minister of Georgia attends this historic date. I would like to welcome him. May the prayers of St. Nicholas aid realization of all your plans and kind intentions. May God protect you and the whole Georgia!" - Ilia II stated.
Prime Minister congratulated whole Georgia on 1000 years since construction of Nikortsminda Cathedral.
"I would like to congratulate the whole Georgian nation on 1000 years since construction of this magnificent Cathedral, true reason of our pride Nikortsminda Cathedral. This is a symbol of strength in Georgia; its distinct architecture makes it one of the most remarkable pieces of our cultural heritage. I would like to congratulate Racha and whole nation of Georgia on this holiday and wish them strength, unification and better tomorrow!" - Prime Minister noted.
He also apologized to the population due to the problem concerning the traffic impediment. In his conversation with the press Giorgi Kvirikashvili indicated that blockage of the road leading to Nikortsminda Cathedral is not related to his visit and he has never issued such an order.
"I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the residents of Racha, since the road was blocked. I did not cause it, however, some people were told that the road blockage was due to the Prime Minister's visit. I would like to apologize to all individuals who experienced inconvenience. I have never issued an order of similar content."
For the purpose of tourism development and preservation of cultural heritage. Georgian Municipal Development Fund launches rehabilitation works in village of Nikortsminda. The works are funded by Government of Georgia and encompass restoration of cultural heritage monument - Nikortsminda Cathedral. It is also planned to rehabilitate the fence on the territory of Central Square and the Cathedral, arrangement of gates, amelioration of road infrastructure, rehabilitation of the facades of the buildings located in the center of settlement, arrangement of park, construction of souvenir shop, reconstruction of facades of the shops and construction of parking area.
