Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, alongside with the Chair of the Ajarian Government ZurabPataradze, attended holiday of Shuamtoba in Beshumi. Prime Minister congratulated attendees of the celebratory event on the holiday and outlined the importance of preservation of traditions. Giorgi Kvirikashvili emphasized the infrastructural projects that are being implemented on the territory of the Beshumi resort and indicated that problem related to the water supply will be fully eliminated by the end of October.
"I would like to welcome people of Ajara and express my deep respect for the local community. I would like to bow my head in respect of MukhamedIremadze, his ensemble and all of the eldest people who strive to preserve Georgian culture and traditions in these hard times. Thank you all! May this attitude, this exceptional love and noteworthy sense of patriotism that you as Ajarians have be preserved and reinforced. You represent a strong source of hope for all of us. Hence, I would lie to express y gratitude once again and congratulate you today on of Shuamtoba - the important holiday of labor, love and unity! I would like you to know that we support you. One of our largest priorities and concerns is preservation of the local population in mountainous regions. In this sense, maintenance of the current traditions and their transfer to the future generations bears particular importance. I am excited to see many young people involved in this celebration - I am glad to see that whole nation is engaged in this great holiday.
I would like to update you on the projects that carry particular significance in view of this region - I refer t the infrastructural projects, construction of roads, rehabilitation of water supply mechanisms that will be finalized by the end of October thus providing water supply to all families. This is particularly important to ensure that people feel that we care and pay attention to their needs," - Prime Minister noted.
According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Beshumi has a great development potential and Government will spare no effort to fully utilize it. Prime Minister considers that support of the population of the mountainous regions and improvement of their living conditions is one of the top priorities for the Government.
"It is particularly noteworthy that according to the Law on Mountains, pensioners, teachers, doctors and nurses will enjoy special bonus system starting from the 1st of September. This will let the residents of mountains to feel due attention from the Government, to ensure development of tourism, including eco-tourism and guarantee that all local families and particularly hotels have income and thus wealth is distributed amongst the families of each of you. This will be our main goal," - Prime Minister noted.
Pursuant to the long-standing tradition, the engagement ceremony of a couple was held. Head of the Government congratulated newly wed couple - they received souvenirs from the Prime Minister and Chair of Ajarian Government.
Celebration of Shuamtoba started with folk concert and continued with sporting competitions and horse race.
Representatives of Muftitate of Ajaria and local Orthodox Church attended Shuamtoba holiday.
