The Law on Registration of Land will fully enter into force starting from August 1. This is an important issue for the local community that will support development of the agriculture industry as well as better organization of the land market, - with these words Prime Minister of Georgia assessed the Law during today's Government session.

Pursuant to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, only 25% of the existing land plots in Georgia are registered. This poses a problem for the private sector, since the population is not able to capitalize their and fully utilize their property for the economic purposes.

"It is a welcoming fact that land registration scheme has been simplified. In the process of land registration, state provides substantial support to the population, including through channeling the financial instruments. I consider that after the termination of the project we will have much healthier and fuller picture. This will help development of the agriculture sector on the one hand as well as better management of land market. At the same time, this is a social issue - since more than 50% of the population is involved in the agriculture sector and this is an important project for ensuring that population stays in the rural area," - Prime Minister state.

Following the provisions of the Law, mediation, request of information and other notarial services will be completely free for the society, - articulated the Minister of Justice. According to Tea Tsulukiani, the society will be able to receive the service envisaged by the project during one year.

"The question of inaccurate surveying drawings will also be addressed to remove the problems faced by the farmers throughout past several years. The registration of the land plots shall take place during one year. This process was hampered by various problems before," - Tea Tsulukiani noted.

Head of the Government requested the Minister of Justice to create a mechanism that will eliminate the risks of the abuse of the provisions of the law.

"It is crucial to ensure that registration of land plots is conducted via correct and transparent process," - Prime Minister noted.
