World Health Organization endorsed July 28 as a Hepatitis Day and us as Georgians have to be proud that unparalleled program is being implemented in Georgia. More than 10 000 people are among the beneficiaries of the program - Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared during today's Cabinet Session.

Head of the Government indicated that the Program continues and expands. The healing rates are also positive. Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked David Sergeenko and the team engaged in implementation of the Program and indicated that this achievement has no critics. More than 14 000 people have engaged in the Program starting from last April, more than 5 000 individuals terminated their treatment and 92% of said beneficiaries were cured, - Minister of Healthcare presented these statistical data.

Pursuant to David Sergeenko, this high percentage is an indicator of a great success. "To initiate the project, it was necessary to ensure that healthcare was the Government's priority area and there was a stable political environment in the country. These were the main preconditions that led to launching the project. 3 months ago we have switched to the new generation medicine, removed all criteria, including those related to the gravity of disease, risk groups, etc, thus sufficiently increasing the inflow of patients. If before we registered 800 patients per month, now we reach out to around 3 000 patients. I consider that this will be a great relief for the infected 150 000 people in Georgia," - David Sergeenko stated.

According to the head of the Government, this is an impressive achievement.
"Many people expected this Program and it is welcoming fact that it not only lives up our expectations, but exceeds them in terms of success as well," - Prime Minister noted.
