2016-07-09

The Prime Minister of Georgia visited the village of Abedati, Martvili Municipality, where, because of the recent downpour, an overflowing river washed away the local bridge and flooded arable lands.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with local residents and promised the fast restoration of damaged infrastructure. The Head of Government emphasized that relevant machinery would be delivered soon to the village to implement cleaning and restoration works.

During his visit to the village of Abedati, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, Minister of Agriculture Otar Danelia, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natrual Resources Gigla Agulashvili, State Rtzmunebuli Levan Shonia, and Zurab Alavidze (the head of Strategic Projects Management at the Administration of the Government of Georgia).

To address the problems arising from the recent heavy rains and natural disaster in Western Georgia, relevant agencies and local authorities are working extended shifts.

On the order of the Prime Minister, ministers have been assigned to different disaster-affected regions to coordinate restoration works.
