The Head of Government has arrived in the village of Sulori, Vani Municipality, where, because of the recent downpour, the overflowing Sulori River has washed away the local bridge. Zaza Khurtsidze (the head of the Vani Municipality) informed the Prime Minister about ongoing restoration work. The Prime Minister instructed relevant agencies to ensure the fastest completion of activities to address the aftermath of the disaster.

The Prime Minister met with local residents and promised to arrange an alternative route in the nearest future.

"Fortunately, there are no fatalities. Restoration works will commence in the nearest possible future, as soon as the road dries and allows for heavy machinery transportation. Movement on the main highway is already free, and we will stabilize the situation in general. I believe we will be able to solve infrastructural problems and calculate the damage in the shortest period of time, and then we will see how much and to what extent we will be able to compensate. It is a serious disaster with far-reaching infrastructural implications. Today the situation is comparatively stable," the Prime Minister said.

During his visit to the village of Sulori, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, State Rtzmunebuli in the Imereti Region Givi Chichinadze, and Zurab Alavidze (the head of Strategic Projects Management at the Administration of the Government of Georgia).

Today Giorgi Kvirikashvili will travel to Martvili which also has been affected by the disaster.
On the order of the Head of Government, representatives of the Government have arrived in every area affected by the disaster to coordinate relevant work on the ground.

To address the problems arising from the recent heavy rains and a natural disaster in Western Georgia, relevant agencies and local authorities are working extended shifts.
