During today's Government meeting the Prime Minister requested information on the works on elimination of the disaster result.

According to the Minister on Regional Development and Infrastructure Nodar Javakhishvili, Keda and Shuakhevi regions sufferred due to the intensive rain showets.
"Two municipalities have been afected. In Meresi canyon of Keda municipality, three bridges have been destroyed and two bridges have no piers - which means that 5 bridges need complete restoration that will take time. In Shuakhevi municipality the situation is even worse - 4 bridges have been destroyed leaving 4 villages cut off from the outside world. We can say that there is detour available for high-pass vehicles. Among said 4 bridges one is particularly important - it will enable us to restore contact with local residents. The works have already been initiated. Ajara region performs works independently - we provide our engineering expertise. They also require carriage engines from the railway for the bridges," - Nodar Javakhishvili noted.
Prime Minister entrusted Minister of Economy to provide relevant support to Ajara region.

"It is a good news that we do not have human casualties - this is the most important. We have to engage in every possible direction - communications, provision of food or water. We have to review these issues/ I would like to urge Giorgi Tabuashvili who represents Ministry of Finance to allocate available additional resources to exterminate the disaster results as soon as possible. I've seen the footage - situation is truly deplorable," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili indicated.

Minister of Infrastructure also provided information to the members of the cabinet on the works performed in Devdoraki valley. According to Nodar Javakhishvili, if the weather does not interfere with the ongoing works, the route will be reopened in 2 weeks. Prime Minister indicated that alternative transportation means have been indicated.
"Ministry of Economy of Georgia closely cooperated with the Transportation Ministry of Armenia and alternative solution has been found. The fruits will be shipped by ferry. This solution is widely utilized by Armenia and our exporters. I believe that interim solution to shipment issues has been found. However alternative engineering mechanism shall also be set up," - Prime Minister stated.
