Prime Minister's Adviser for Human rights and Gender equality issues Sopho Japaridze conducted a meeting with the Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Women Association, Leyla Suleymanova and young representatives of ethnic minorities.

The main topics of the meeting were the fight against domestic violence and violence against women as well as prevention of early marriage.

Sopho Japaridze updated young delegates on the institutions related to the detection and prevention of domestic violence and violence against women as well as about the latest challenges and achievements in the said area. She also elaborated on the measures adopted to fight domestic violence and violence against women as well as on the activities aimed at protection of victims, as envisaged by the 2016-2017 Governmental Action Plan on Human Rights Protection. Sopho Japaridze outlined the need of reinforcing role of women, negative implications of the early marriage and activities aimed at the prevention of the later phenomenon, The young delegates were also updated on the activities of Interagency Council on Implementation of Preventive Measures against Domestic Violence as well as about the counseling group operating under its umbrella and the group granting the status of victim to domestic violence.
