Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with Christian Friis Bach, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The sides discussed issues addressed by the eighth Ministerial on "Environment for Europe" that is held in Batumi.

The Head of the Government of Georgia thanked the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe for cooperation within the frames of the conference and the efforts aimed at improvement of the environment in the countries of the region.

During the meeting it was noted that the process under UNECE - "Environment for Europe" as well as Ministerial Conferences in general contribute to regional cooperation and discussions on important environmental issues for the purpose of identification of priority areas and elaboration of specific action plans.

The sides expressed hope that the conference will be held at a high level in the lively and productive mode.

Around 800 official delegates from 56 countries participate in Batumi Ministerial.
