Best growth of number of tourists and international travelers was recorded within the 5 months of this year in Georgia. Namely, based on the data of May 2016, the number of international travelers increased by 14.9% and the amount of tourisms - i.e. persons who stay in Georgia for 24 hours or more - by 24.3%. This is a very positive indicator, - Prime Minister of Georgia noted during today's Government Meeting.
According to the Prime Minister, the number of tourists from both neighboring and the EU countries increase, which is a great indicator.

"The growth of international travelers by 15.3% was noticeable during the first 5 months. In 2015, the income produced by tourism was 1.94 billion USD, the growth was 8.3%, which is 149 million USD more than the similar figure from the previous year. The share of tourism in GDP is also steadily increasing - in 2015 it increased by 16.2% and was almost 6.8%, but potential is even bigger," - Prime Minister noted.
