Next year, Georgia will be the first guest country of the Wine City opened in Bordeaux, France. The ceremony opened by President of France Francois Hollande was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia.
in 2017, the museum that represents the largest part of the Wine City, will host Georgia within the frames of its first exhibition "Invited Vineyard". The exhibition "Georgia - cradle of wine" will take place throughout July-August 2017.
Pursuant to the Prime Minister, it is a great accomplishment that Georgia occupies particular position in the Museum of Wine Civilization in the global center of wine industry, Bordeaux.
"We will be able to represent Georgia as a cradle of wine civilization. Today, President Hollande and the Mayor of City of Bordeaux Alain Juppe publicly reasserted that Georgia is a cradle of wine civilization, which is a great accomplishment. Ministry of Agriculture, the Embassy and friends in France and Spain were engaged in the process," - Prime Minister noted and thanked Ambassadors of Georgia in France and Spain for their efforts.
Head of the government also congratulated Georgian businessmen and individuals engaged in wine industry on this occasion.
Various short-term exhibitions, tastings, wine related cultural and scientific activities will take place in the Museum.
Wine City is expected to receive tens of thousands of guests annually. The idea of this city was initiated by the former Prime Minister of France, Mayor of Bordeaux Alain Juppe.
Minister of Interior Giorgi Mghebrishvili, Minister of Agriculture Otar Danelia and Deputy Minister Levan Davitashvili also attended the official ceremony.
