The delegation of the European Parliament expresses solid support to the liberalization of visa regime with Georgia and expects successful finalization of the process, - the members of Subcommittee on Security and Defence under the Committee on the Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament noted during their meeting with the Prime Minister.

The sides discussed Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration path of Georgia and regional security issues.

The members of the delegation were also interested in the developments in the occupied territories of Georgia.

Prime Minister expressed his grave concern over the plans of defacto Government of Tskhinvali region regarding holding a referendum on joining Russian Federation. He noted that respective statements violate the public international law principles. Giorgi Kvirikashvili also updated the delegation on facts of abduction of ethnic Georgians over the administrative borderline as well as restriction of the right of Georgian population to obtain education in Georgian in district of Gali, Abkhazia.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Gigi Gigiadze, Vice Speaker of Parliament Manana Kobakhidze, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Tedo Japaridze and Head of the Committee on Security and Defence Irakli Sesiashvili also attended the meeting.
