Since the ancient times we have maintained historic and cultural ties and I consider that Trans Adriatic Pipeline project is an outstanding opportunity of deepening the cooperation in the energy sector, - Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras started his meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili has undertaken a business trip to Greece.

Prime Minister of Georgia considers construction of Trans Adriatic Pipeline to be an important project. According to him, TAP project will ensure ameliorated energy security and deepening of economic cooperation.

The leaders of the two countries discussed Georgia-Greece relations. Friendly ties and perspectives of deepening cooperation were emphasized. Prime Minister expressed readiness to foster further development of the potential in the areas such as economy, tourism, trade, culture, education. It was noted that the growth of trade turnover and strengthening of economic ties between the countries shall be the cornerstone of the bilateral cooperation between the countries. The hope was expressed that the Association Agreement will ensure full utilization of Georgia's trade and economic capacities.

The sides also discussed the European and Euro-Atlantic integration agenda as well as progress achieved by Georgia. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras reasserted unwavering support of Greece to the European choice of Georgia and noted that Georgia is a reliable partner of the EU.

The meeting in Thessaloniki was attended by Minister of Energy, Vice Prime Minister Kakha Kaladze and Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze.
